  • About GemKitty's Founder

    parents 2

Born and raised in Hong Kong by two parents in the gemstone and jewelry trade, Kitty-in-Chief Arwa Jumkawala grew up surrounded by bright and colorful baubles, and the even more colorful collection of individuals who scout, mine, cut, polish, broker, and barter these treasures around the globe.

A lifelong jewelry designer, Arwa has always been moved by the infectious delight that giving and receiving shiny things can evoke. She brings a spare and playful aesthetic to her work, one in which the natural beauty of the gemstones and materials speaks for itself. As time went on, Arwa's desire to share this joy more fully led her to teach numerous friends and colleagues how to create that truly unique and "purr-fect" piece.

In 2007, Arwa founded Gemkitty with the dream of enabling anyone, whatever their crafting ability, to discover a rare treasure or bring a design idea effortlessly to life. Today, GemKitty's litter of skilled jewelry-makers take tremendous pride in helping to realize these visions. We look forward to bringing you even more fanciful and elaborate possibilities soon.

In other words, even more shiny things, even more happiness. Meow.
